Department of Naturopathy
Overview
Literacy for health is stronger predictor than any other social or environmental understanding. Holistic health is a crucial topic for mankind to flourish. Naturopathy is a distinct health care system that stresses upon the body’s self-healing mechanism. Naturopathy believes in a holistic and drugless management aimed at minimizing the use of drugs or chemicals and maximizing the vital capacity. Approximately with a history of 200 odd years of existence; methods used in Naturopathy have been refined, defined and closely studied under the light of modern science.Naturopathy principles are rooted in the most comprehensive explanation of living beings. The diagnostic and therapeutic protocols in Naturopathy are built upon the universal atomic (panchamaha \bhootas) facts. An imbalance among these elements (diseases and symptoms) can be corrected by judicious use of five-element treatment methods.
Therapies are based on the judicious combination of exercise, sunlight, freshwater, stress management, healthy diet, and so on. Naturopathy practices include a wide range of therapies for the promotion of health and prevention of disease. A naturopathy doctor along with medical subjects is intensively trained in multitude dimensions of clinical nutrition and diet, clinical yoga, behavioural counselling, hydrotherapy, botanical medicine, physical manipulations, acupuncture and energy healing and physiotherapy. These therapies are time-tested, effective and less invasive way of attaining relief from several chronic life-style disorders.
BNYS graduates are in high demand in naturopathy hospitals, wellness centers, yoga retreats, AYUSH centers, rehab clinics, research projects, etc. Naturopaths are working as medical officers, wellness consultants, research officer, naturopathy doctors, holistic project managers, acupuncturists, entrepreneurs, etc. Naturopathy services are recognized across the globe and widely accepted by the masses.
The BNYS program is offered at several institutes in India. It requires students to have a minimum aggregate of 50% in Physics, Chemistry, and Biology. It is an interdisciplinary study, with a specialized focus on yoga and naturopathy. Applicants should have passed the 10+2 examination. BNYS is an abbreviation for Bachelor of Naturopathy and Yogic Science . After completing this course ,student will be eligible to become BNYS Doctor . Yoga is the priceless heritage of India, which has been gifted to the world by the sages of India. With the help of Yoga, human is able to know himself. The importance of the yoga tradition and its effective principles have been accepted by the whole world with an open mind because yoga is the only path that affects all aspects of health. It has a positive effect on physical, mental health as well as social and spiritual health, which is important for the overall health of man.Yoga is an ancient practice that includes physical, concentration and deep breathing. It is a practice based on breathing, which creates harmony between mind and body. The eight parts of yoga fulfill its psychological elements. Yogic management of many types of diseases occurring in humans is done through many activities like Yama, Niyama, Asana, Pranayama, Dhyana etc.
Like Ayurveda, Yoga also works on prevention of diseases and its treatment in case of disease. Along with Yoga, students are also taught other supporting subjects. The effect of other supporting therapies like Diet & Nutrition, Swasthvritta, Sadvritta, Acupressure, Magnet Therapy etc. works as a supporting method in Yoga Therapy. The candidates are shortlisted on basis of the qualifying examination as per eligibility criteria prescribed by the University. The merit list is displayed and shortlisted candidates are required to attend a personal counseling session, to be eligible to get an offer for admission to the program. The personal counseling committee selects students on the basis of candidates’ qualifying testimonials, credentials and medical examinations.
